What is BOX LACROSSE??
& why does it improve your field lacrosse game?
Box lacrosse is different from playing indoor field lacrosse.
• 5 on 5 play + padded goalie
• 12 players per team
• 4x4 goal (reg. field goal is 6x6)
• More flowing game
• No long poles
• Goalies wear big pads
Advantages of box lacrosse over indoor field
lacrosse:
• Smaller goals force players to get closer to net
rather than relying on outside shots
• Not having defenders and attack stay back gets you in better shape
and makes more well rounded players learning both offensive & defensive skills
• Long poles learn to use feet & body to play defense
• Don’t rely solely on stick checks
• Goalies learn to use their body to make more saves
• Learn the use of stick fakes and quick precision passing
